McGuire Entrepreneurship at Work
McGuire Center Welcomes New Team Members

By Liz Warren-Pederson

The McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship welcomes several new researchers and teachers this fall, including Jane Robbins, senior lecturer in innovation, entrepreneurship, and institutional leadership; Patricia Sias, senior lecturer in organizational leadership and communications; and post-doctoral fellow Monte Schaffer.

Robbins came to the McGuire Center from Vanderbilt University, where she was a senior lecturer in organizational leadership. A historian and institutional analyst of patent and conflict of interest policy regulating university-industry-government relations, she is working on a book on institutional integrity and conflict of interest for Johns Hopkins University Press. Previously she had a long career as an information services entrepreneur and consultant in the information, energy, transportation, and finance industries.

Sias joined the McGuire Center from Washington State University‚Äôs Edward R. Murrow School of Communication, where she was a professor of communication. Her research agenda focuses on organizational communication, specifically leadership, workplace relationships, and new employee socialization.

Schaffer is a post-doctorate fellow who also comes to the UA from WSU. He and his thesis advisor, new dean Len Jessup, have been working on research projects related to predicting radical innovation using patent data.
