Judith Stanfield Receives 2004 UA Staff Excellence Award
“Great organizations achieve their greatness because of the quality of their people.... .Judith is a prototypical example of exceptional organizational citizenship,” wrote Eller Management and Policy professor Suzanne Cummins, nominating her department’s administrative associate for the University’s highest staff honor.

A 23-year UA employee, Judith brought broad experience to Eller in 1994, having played roles in University Human Resources and the Colleges of Education and Pharmacy in benefits, financial management, grants administration and personnel.
“When I started here the only experience I didn’t have was in curriculum. Wouldn’t you know that was my assignment and I found that bringing students and faculty together to make the academic programs work is what I’ve enjoyed most over the years.”
An active UA citizen, with extensive service on committees throughout the University, and a regular “late nights and Saturdays” presence in McClelland Hall, Judith will be much more scarce after the retirement “I am so looking forward to,” on June 30th. She’s hitting the road—for northern Arizona and then family in Ohio before heading south for a Miami Thanksgiving and a winter return to Tucson via Dallas and New Orleans. “Then I’ll take up my charcoals and start working on a lifelong dream to visit Cyprus.”
We are grateful for Judith’s service and wish her happy travels.
