The Economic and Business Research Program (EBR) has just completed a study of the Economic Impacts of Mexican Visitors to Arizona. The research was conducted by EBR economist Alberta Charney, Ph.D. and UA researcher Vera K. Pavlakovich-Kochi, Ph.D. The study determined that during 2001, Mexican visitors to Arizona spent an estimated $962.9 million. Of that amount, $399 million was spent at Arizona's department stores and other clothing and ware stores, and $239.7 million at grocery stores. These two categories account for about two-thirds of all expenditures. The complete study is available at EBR's Web site, http://ebr.eller.arizona.edu. |
