Press Release

Eller MBA at University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management rated among “Top 25 MBA Programs for Hispanics”.

TUCSON , Ariz. – September 27, 2004 – The Eller MBA program at The University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management earned placement in the Top 25 MBA Programs for Hispanics survey compiled annually by HISPANIC Trends Magazine.

The Eller MBA debuted on the 2004 list in the company of leading programs such as Harvard Business School, Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, The Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania, Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Columbia Business School, and Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley.

The magazine cites Eller College’s leadership in faculty diversity as among the reasons for the program’s inclusion in the 2004 list, noting also that the College is represented at minority recruiting events, uses minority-targeted advertising, benefits from a strong alumni outreach effort, and offers a number of scholarships to Hispanic students.

Associate Dean and MBA director Brent Chrite commented, “A diverse environment is central to our mission and is essential to our goal of preparing students to compete and succeed in a competitive and diverse marketplace. We are pleased to see our dedication to diversity recognized in this listing.”

Earlier this year, U.S. News & World Report rated the Eller MBA program 18th among public graduate business schools and 35th among graduate business schools overall in their 2005 America’s Best Graduate Schools Survey, the premiere ranking of U.S. business schools.

The HISPANIC Trends Top 25 list identifies MBA programs the magazine deems national leaders in reaching out to minorities, not only with scholarships and fellowships, but also through mentoring and student associations. The 25 colleges on the list are not ranked.

In an article accompanying the list, HISPANIC Trends reports that corporations are boosting minority recruitment as they struggle to compete in an increasingly multicultural business environment. At the same time, the magazine suggests MBA programs are also boosting minority recruitment, in part to ensure success in job placements, an important factor in any business school’s reputation.

HISPANIC Trends Magazine is published by Hispanic Publishing Group, which also publishes HISPANIC Magazine and VISTA Magazine, the largest ABC-audited magazine in the United States for the Hispanic American audience. The magazine can be found online at www.hispaniconline.com/trends.
