TUCSON, Ariz. – July 22, 2005 – Jane Prescott-Smith has joined The University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management as Senior Director of Development.
Since 1999, Jane had served as director of development at The University of Arizona’s Steele Children's Research Center, where she raised more than $12 million for capital and endowment projects in pediatric research and teaching. In addition to her considerable work in Tucson and its surrounding communities, she successfully built relationships in the Phoenix market by helping to launch the Center's Phoenix Advisory Board and Phoenix Women's Board, through which she coordinated educational, fundraising, and awareness events netting more than $1 million.
Before joining The University of Arizona, Jane worked as Director of Corporate Relations for Northwestern University, developing alliances with corporations that resulted in donations averaging $15 million annually. Prior to her work at Northwestern, Jane held positions in fundraising and marketing as director of development for the MidAmerica Leadership Foundation, business manager and director of development for Good News Partners, and a brand manager with Kraft Foods. She earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Stanford University before completing her MBA with concentrations in marketing and finance at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
“Jane’s accomplishments in development and her outstanding and highly relevant credentials from Stanford and Northwestern make her the ideal fit for this position,” said Paul Portney, dean of the Eller College of Management. “I’m looking forward to working with her to deepen relationships with members of the College’s National Board of Advisors, alumni, and friends. With Jane on board, I’m confident that the Eller College will rise to new heights.”
Prescott-Smith said she’s excited to be working with the Eller College and the opportunities it presents. “The best thing about my work is that I have the chance to help people make a difference,” she said. “It’s about connecting people to something they truly care about and showing them how they can help advance that cause.”
