Undergraduate business program survey places UA accounting, entrepreneurship, management, marketing, and MIS programs in the top-tier
TUCSON, Ariz. – August 23, 2007 – The 2008 release of the annual U.S. News and World Report survey of Best Business Programs saw the Eller College of Management ranked #12 among public business schools nationwide — and five of the College’s academic specialties were recognized among the nation’s 25 best. For one of them — management and organizations — it’s a first-time appearance in the top tier.
These Eller College of Management academic specialties received top-25 recognition:
- Management Information Systems (MIS) — #4 overall; #2 among public business schools

- Marketing — #17 overall; #13 among public business schools
- Management — #20 overall; #16 among public business schools

“Of course it’s rewarding when a number of our departments show up in the Top 25 nationally,” commented Paul Portney, dean of the Eller College of Management. “But our goal doesn’t change: we must continue to attract the best faculty and students. If we do, our reputation for research, teaching, and placement will soar, and with it our national rankings.”
Pam Perry, associate dean of Eller College undergraduate programs, was pleased with the top-tier recognition of five undergraduate departments. “Our program is designed to help students achieve their personal vision of success. All of our specialty areas are on board with this goal and the recent rankings help show that it’s working. When our students succeed, people around the country take note.”
The McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship, home to the entrepreneurship program at UA led by Sherry Hoskinson, has been climbing steadily in the U.S. News rankings and leapfrogged two spots since 2007. The accounting department is led by Dan Dhaliwal, the Lou Meyers Professor of Accounting and ranked #25.
