UA McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship dubbed “best bet” by Fortune Small Business/CNNMoney.com

McGuire students featured in CNNMoney.com online video

What: Fortune Small Business released its “Best Colleges for Entrepreneurship” and The Eller College of Management’s McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship at The University of Arizona is listed among the top programs in every applicable category.  The results from a seven-month survey of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, professors, students, alumni, and university administrators narrowed the national field of 3000 college and university programs to a handful of select institutions deemed best bets for would-be entrepreneurs.

Students in the McGuire Entrepreneurship program are also featured in an online video on CNNMoney.com.

The University of Arizona received recognition for entrepreneurship education in the following categories:

• Top professors

Who: Don Piper, mentor-in-residence at the McGuire Center, was included among the nation’s top professors in entrepreneurship. Singled out by colleagues, students, and entrepreneurs, Piper works one-on-one with student business planning teams. He commented that while the goal of teaching isn't necessarily to push students to launch a business after graduation, over the past two years, 19 out of the 40 teams he has mentored have done so.

The Eller College of Management at The University of Arizona is internationally recognized for pioneering research, innovative curriculum, distinguished faculty, excellence in entrepreneurship, and social responsibility. U.S.News & World Report ranks the Eller undergraduate program #12 among public business schools and five of its departments are among the top 25 — Entrepreneurship, MIS, Marketing, Management and Organizations, and Accounting. The MPA program in the School of Public Administration and Policy ranks in the top 50. Financial Times ranks the Eller MBA full-time program #27 in the U.S. and #57 in the world, and Forbes ranks the program among the top 50 nationwide.
