TUCSON, Ariz. – December 5, 2007 – Nearly 65 million women are in the U.S. labor force, and 74% of them work full time. In addition to full-time work, many women still choose to have families and continue to give time to their communities. With so many women appearing to have it all, female undergraduates and MBAs at the Eller College of Management are asking themselves, “How does she do it?” To answer that question, Eller College students from the National Association of Women MBAs and the Undergraduate Professional Women in Business hosted a networking tea on November 30 at the Arizona Inn. The tea was held to celebrate the accomplishments of 15 Tucson women, and offered the opportunity for students to connect with women who are making a difference in Tucson and learn about their recipes for success. “It was truly an inspiration for me to hear the success stories of these women,” commented sophomore finance and French major Alexia Hoff. “They each spoke about life balance and advised us to find a career that we love. All of them love their jobs; I could see a major correlation between loving what you do and being successful.” “‘Ordinary Women Doing Extraordinary Things’ recognizes hard-working women as the unsung heroes of our community,” said Pam Perry, associate dean of undergraduate programs. Perry hosted a table to honor Carol Sottosanti, who founded the noncompetitive children’s performing group Kids Unlimited. The women honored at the tea represented a cross-section of professional endeavors, including a director of parks and recreation, a business news editor, several entrepreneurs and corporate executives, as well as educational leaders. The women recognized and the categories for which they were nominated include:
