Center for Leadership Ethics at the Eller College Announces Founding Gift
Phoenix-based Merchants Information Solutions signs on as founding partner of center with three-year commitment.
TUCSON, Ariz. – August 17, 2011 – Merchants Information Solutions, a Phoenix-based provider of integrity testing, background screening, and identity theft restoration services, has made a three-year commitment to the newly-announced Center for Leadership Ethics (CLE) at the UA’s Eller College of Management.
“Merchants is honored to be a founding partner of the Center for Leadership Ethics at Eller College to help promote integrity and ethics in business. We look forward to working with the College to provide further actuarial evidence as to the validity of employment integrity testing, and to improve and enhance our solution. We are confident the partnership will be mutually beneficial, and look forward to working with the College,” said Russ Johnson, CEO of Merchants Information Solutions.
“We are thrilled that Merchants has committed to partner with the Center for Leadership Ethics,” said Stephen Gilliland, who heads the Department of Management and Organizations and executive director of the CLE. “At the Center, we see our missions of education, outreach, and research as closely tied together, and look forward to a substantive partnership with Merchants that will benefit all three areas.”
For example, Merchants has provided access to its proprietary integrity tests for research purposes. Professor Russell Cropanzano, Merchants Information Solutions Director of Leadership Ethics Research, and associate professor Jerel Slaughter are leading a series of studies examining constructs and long-term predictive validity of integrity tests based on Merchants data.
In addition to increasing scholarly understanding of leadership ethics, studies like this will be disseminated direct to practicing managers through media such as webinars, as well as integrated into classroom instruction and published traditionally in academic journals, serving the CLE’s goal of effecting broad change in ethical leadership across sectors. For additional information about the CLE, including details about outreach programs including the Collegiate Ethics Case Competition and the High School Ethics Forum, visit ethics.eller.arizona.edu.
