2012-2013 Economic Outlook
Outlook Forecast Luncheon
The nation's economy has barely grown during 2011. In its current state, the economy is vulnerable to shocks or policy mistakes. Looming threats include the European debt crisis, premature tightening of U.S. fiscal policy, and continuing malaise in housing markets. Uncertainty is very high — and confidence of both business leaders and consumers is back near recession levels. Employment is stuck in low gear and unemployment remains painfully high. Demand is weak in nearly every sector, and disenchantment with the political process is one more reason not to spend or hire. So, where do we go from here? Is there anything left in the fiscal or monetary policy toolbox that will help? Is Great Depression II at hand?
Join JPMorgan Chase's Anthony Chan, Eller College dean Len Jessup, and economists Gerald J. Swanson and Marshall J. Vest in this must-attend event.
