Eller’s undergraduate Professional Development Center is focused on creating an Eller experience that includes opportunities for students to explore career options out in the real world. This spring, two groups did just that as part of company tours and networking opportunities in Tucson and New York City.
A Tour of Tucson
Students who went on the Tucson tour met with three companies that call Tucson home: Vantage West Credit Union, Sunquest Information Systems, and Global Solar. The trip included breakfast provided by Tucson Young Professionals, and lunch provided by Sunquest.
“We wanted to start building a partnership with the Tucson community to attract and retain our talented graduates,” said Sarah Diaz, director of the Professional Development Center at Eller. “Many of our students are unfamiliar with local companies that also hire business students, so we wanted to start introducing them to all of the various opportunities Tucson has to offer.”
New York-Bound
The New York Study Tour aimed to give students an experience of business in a major city. The tour included meetings with Eller alumni and business professionals working in New York City, as well as site visits to companies representing a wide variety of industries and work settings.
“It gave students insight into life after graduation and presented them with valuable networking opportunities,” explained Diaz.
