English as a Second Language (ESL) Interviews
Friday, February 20, 2015
Interviews - 7:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
In an increasingly global business environment, the University of Arizona has experienced an increase in international students wishing to pursue their studies in the Eller College. This growth has prompted us to revamp the way we assess these students as part of the Professional Admissions interview process. The Eller Undergraduate Programs office is searching for Eller College Associates who are experienced with our Professional Admissions interview process and are familiar with the distinct contributions that these international students bring to the College. This could be represented by someone who has a high level of interaction with international persons, frequent travel abroad, conducted international/global business, or just a passion for globalized education. Overall, the interview process is very similar to the traditional Professional Admissions interviews. Each interview is still scheduled for 20 minutes, and each student would continue to be evaluated on the resume, letter of intent, and responses to interview questions, including a question about an ethics case. The main differences is that your co-interviewer would simply be evaluating language competency, and each candidate would be identified as having English as a second language. We will hold the ESL interviews on Friday.
Direct Admit Interviews
Our Direct Admit students are a select group of our honors students eligible to participate in a non-competitive application process. While these students have guaranteed admission (assuming completion of final academic requirements) and do not have to participate in our traditional Professional Admissions interview process, we still want to provide them with an interview opportunity. Since the process is non-competitive, we coordinate interviews with professionals in the student’s area of interest for more of an informational interview experience. These one-on-one informational interviews provide students with a more customized experience.
