Doug Zanes, attorney and founder of Zanes Law, has been appointed as the new chair for the Center for Leadership Ethics Advisory Board in the Eller College of Management.

Zanes completed his undergraduate degree at Arizona State University and graduated from law school from St. Mary’s University in Texas. He began practicing law in 1997 and is part of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum—one of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States.

“I am particularly excited about Doug’s election as our new Advisory Board Chairman,” says Ron Sable, founding chair of the Center for Leadership Ethics. “His ethical focus in business and education and his Arizona heritage are welcome attributes at this important time in the Center’s growth.”

“Doug has been a difference-maker since joining the CLE board,” says Russ Johnson, former chair of the Center for Leadership Ethics. “He is invested in its mission and as chair brings a unique personal and professional level of integrity to help guide the next generation of leaders. I look forward to his leadership.”

In 2003, Zanes started Zanes Law with his wife, Claudia in Tucson, Arizona, and has since then represented thousands of people.  In addition to representing clients, Zanes supervises staff attorneys who possess a combined 60 years of personal injury experience, allowing him to ensure that all clients are represented according to Zanes Law’s core values: represent the client well, provide exceptional customer service, maintain a high standard in all aspects and work as a team to ensure clients’ financial well-being.

“I’m thrilled that Doug agreed to take on the leadership role as chair of the Center for Leadership Ethics Advisory Board,” says Paul Melendez, University Distinguished Outreach Professor and Founder of the Center for Leadership Ethics. “He has been one of our most reliable and generous supporters over the years. Doug is not only passionate about promoting ethics, but also proposes entrepreneurial ideas about advancing our mission.”

"A long time ago I read the following quote: 'Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is right to do,'" says Zanes. "Since joining the Board, I have had the opportunity to connect with the idea behind this quote and to think about both life and business with this idea in mind. Being a part of the Center's Advisory Board has not only given me the opportunity to be a part of a program that is designed to impact the world in a positive way through the students and business that it touches, but it has also regularly reminded me to make decisions in my life and my business that will have a positive impact on the world around me.  I can't think of a more impactful mission than that of Eller's Center For Leadership Ethics and I am proud to now be the Advisory Board Chair."
