Beck Moore BSBA ‘24 (Business Management) was a Private Wealth Management Intern at Robert W. Baird in Boulder, Colorado.

What was the process for getting this internship, job, or summer experience?

The process started by introducing myself to the managing director of the firm, then from there I was able to get an interview. The interview went great and then I was their sole intern for the summer in Boulder.

What was your favorite part of the experience?

My favorite part of the experience was that I was able to immerse myself in the wealth management industry. I had the opportunity to understand the full scope of the job and what the day to day entailed. Furthermore, the client relationships that I built within the short time spent at the internship was a valuable experience and ultimately a reason for future employment post graduation.

If you worked on a big project, please describe it below:

I performed an insurance audit for our 300+ client base. Within the audit I was able to consolidate their information, perform analysis of potential gaps in their coverage. Then I would provide them a recommendation for filling the gaps in their coverage, ensuring they were adequately covered to address risks in their lives.

What advice do you have for other students looking for a similar experience, or advice for future students to be successful?

My advice for students looking for a similar experience is to continue to learn in all aspects of their lives. I was able to learn more in a 3 month internship than I ever thought I would, I absorbed every piece of information that was thrown my way which made for a valuable experience that shaped my thinking about an industry I had not previously been interested in. Ultimately, live your life with passion, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic and it will be impossible not to be successful in anything you want to do!
