Admitted Students Day

On April 6, the University of Arizona campus buzzed with excitement—as well as, of course, some jitters—as over 5,700 newly admitted undergraduate students gathered for Admitted Student’s Day.

The day began at McKale Memorial Center with preshow performances and giveaways for attendees, followed by a welcome event that kicked off the rest of the day.

After the welcome event, students broke out into their academic welcome sessions where they had the opportunity to “try on Wildcat life” and start the day in the college or academic unit that they were admitted to. During the academic sessions, future Eller Wildcats got to meet other students who will be starting at the Eller College of Management in the Fall as well as hear from current students in Eller leadership programs and who participated in Eller global programs.

During the academic sessions, students from the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship New Venture Development Program presented a mini Shark Tank Demo similar to what they do at the yearly New Venture Competition. This gave future Eller students just a small taste of all the endless opportunities that are offered as part of the Eller College. More than 900 attendees participated in this event.

Following the welcome sessions began the exploration portion of the day. During this time, students had the opportunity to explore campus in four sections:

Tours

During the tours, guests got the inside scoop on attending the University with a walking tour led by a campus ambassador. Tours specific to colleges were also available, including exclusive tours of McClelland Hall. Over 500 future Eller students took tours through the halls of Eller.

Wildcat 101

At Wildcat 101, attendees had the chance to sign the block “A” near Old Main and then went on to the Student Union Memorial Center to get more information and participate in more giveaways from the New Student Services Team.

Dining

Future Wildcats visited one of the many dining options on campus where they are able to spend their meal card during the dining exploration. They were able to see all of the different cuisines available and restaurants ranging from food court style, all you can eat and sit own restaurants on campus.

Resource Browse on the Mall

At the resource browse on the mall, students spoke with experts from around campus that offer amazing resources for University students. There were representatives from Student Engagement and Career Development, Study Abroad, Housing, Dining, Cultural Resource Centers, Greek Life, Parent and Family Programs and many more.

Admitted Students Day is just a glimpse at what life could be like at the University of Arizona and Tucson. It serves as a way to get future Wildcats excited about the new chapter in their lives they are about to embark on and, of course, get them in the Bear Down Spirit.
